I have said it before, but creativity is a muscle. The more your flex your creative muscle, the stronger it gets. I know I feel weak, creatively speaking when I don't put forth a creative effort to practice my photography. In this post, I want to emulate how important it is to practice photography, & strengthen your creative muscles, even if it is doing unpaid lifestyle/product photography.

By doing so, when a paid job comes, you'll feel more confident.

Why practice unpaid lifestyle-product photography?

• Practice Makes Better: The more & more you practice with photography, the better you'll be. Whatever your photography interest or niche is, you have to practice. Try experimenting with the different settings of your camera. Not always shooting in Manual isn't a camera sin. I shot these Sonos Speaker photos on Shutter Priority with an external Sony camera flash, set on TTL mode.
• Build Your Portfolio: Just because you have done unpaid photography work, does not mean you can use some of the highlights in your portfolio as well as social feeds. Think of unpaid shoots as ways to manifest paid photo shoots you want down the road. You'll have these manifestation images to show as examples when the real $$$ opportunity aligns with the Universe. Just like magic.
• Photography Feels Good: I don't know about you, but going through the motions of actually taking a photo is cathartic. It just feels good. Why not do more of a good thing?
• Edit Practice: Editing a photo isn't always my favorite. However, the more photos you take, the more you can hone in on your signature photo editing style.
