Photographer's Holiday Gift Guide

Photographer's Holiday Gift Guide

Entry No. 19

City sidewalks, pretty sidewalks, photographers hitting the streets to capture the seasonal sights as well as pretty holiday lights.

More so than ever before, I am conscious of buying not only for myself but for others as I am slowly {it's a process} adopting a minimal mindset. In other words, before buying something, I ask if I have the space for such an item or what will I giveaway to make room for said item.

I hate seeing 'stocking stuffers' & random 'junk' gifts in stores as I feel they're such a waste & really who has the need or room for them? That's one reason why on my own personal blog, The Yellow Spectacles I elect not to write too many gift guides. I like mindful gifting, but excess buying. Over the years, I have come to this particular holiday mindset.

However, as someone who enjoys photography & understands that it isn't a cheap hobby or career, there are little things that I have come to like as a photographer & furthermore, these little photography-related things {I believe} would make great gifts for the photographer on your Christmas/Hanukkah list.

Mind you, these are not G-Master lenses nor the new Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera, but little things that either add value to a photographer's camera bag or workflow at home. But hey, if you really love that photo-enthusiast & can afford that crispy Sony 35 mm 1.4 FE lens, by all means.

Gift No. 1 Lume Cube 2.0 on Camera LED Light

It's the holidays, there are lights everywhere. This little light in the form of a small cube gives off a whole lotta light when perched on your camera or whatever your photography medium is {drone/smartphone.} This is actually on my list this year, as the Lume Cube 2.0 is waterproof up to 30 feet {perfect for my GoPro}. I think this is the perfect size gift to add value to any photographer's camera bag. {Photo on Collage via Moment}

Gift No. 2 Apple AirTag

Personally, the Apple AirTag is a genius gift to gift a photographer as they can clip it to their camera bag or camera cube & have a little peace of mind knowing they can track their gear. You may know that you can add your AirTags to your Apple iPhone & track the whereabouts via the app. Pro-tip, if you order these tags from Apple directly, you can have the AirTags engraved with a limited number of characters. Again, they're small & affordable, but so purposeful for really anyone. {Photo on Collage via Apple}

Gift No.3 Vallerret Women's Nordic Photography Gloves

No matter the temps, photographers are always out in the field with their cameras. Winter's cold temperatures can be hard on the fingers when holding your camera. I saw a similar version of photography gloves last year in Youtuber Allison Anderson's Holiday Gift Guide. I think these would be a great gift as I would love a pair, but don't forsee me buying them for myself. Again, the photography gloves {for men & women & various sizes} is a ideal holiday gift idea. {Photo on the Collage via B&H.com}

Gift No. 4 Photography Lessons & Classes

The cool thing about photography is that you never know everything. There is always something new to learn whether it'd be a new Lightroom/editing feature to photographing a whole new subject {cars, nature, so on}. I bet your local photography store offers classes. If not, online photo experts like Moment do. Whether your gift recipient is looking to sharpen their portrait skills or take up film photography, they have classes for that.

Gift No. 5 General Electric 60Ww A19 with Remote Color Changing Light Bulb White

Personally, I have two of these LED color-changing light bulbs & love to turn them on in the evening when editing photos or writing blog posts. Little gifts like this that help set the mood/tone for photo post-processing are great little gifts for photographers as well as creatives. It really sparks something inside you. {Photo in Collage via Target}

Strohl Mountain Light Camera Loader

I personally have been waiting for this lightweight camera loader to come in, as I feel that it would be perfect to slip your camera inside & then inside a backpack or just to carry as extra protection. When it comes to camera gear, little things that keep your gear safe & protected are always great finds & gifts. {Photo on Collage via Moment}

Other little sentiments/gifts that I feel would make for great gifts for photographers would be a one-year subscription to Adobe Lightroom {if they don't have it already} or framing your personal favorite photo that person has taken & giving it to them as a gift!

Merry Christmas, thanks for reading!
